LOT Polish Airlines has allowed passengers to use electronic devices

Starting from the 17th of February, the LOT Polish Airlines allows passengers to use their personal electronic devices in flight mode on board of LOT’s aircrafts. These devices may be switched on for the whole duration of the travel, even during takeoff and landing.

Until now, travelers have had to turn off their electronic devices for takeoff, landing and when signaling “fasten your seat belts” was enabled.

The new easement means that passengers can use all the functionalities of phones, tablets, MP3 players or cameras, which do not require the cellular signal. Therefore it is still not possible to make phone calls and send SMS messages.

LOT has conducted this new rule due to the decision of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) which allowed airlines to such action. According to the EASA, the use of electronics in airplanes does not affect the functioning of the on-board systems.
